Camping @ Mt. Madonna

4 families + 2 big campsites + 7 kids + toasted marshmellows + numerous pounds of yummy BBQ + good weather = great family fun.
We kinda kick off the start of the summer with a camping trip. It was our girls’ first camping trip & first in many years for Suzanne & I. We all had a great time with the Tieus, Jarvinens & Truongs. Mt. Madonna turned out to be a great little camping destination, wooded and conveniently nestled east of Gilroy. While the kids don’t exactly make camping as care-free as I remember, I still enjoyed the relaxing time since I had a marathon work week. The highlights for the kids were a trip to feed some white fallow deers at the deer pens. The highlight for me was the BBQ. 😉
Here are some of the shots from the weekend trip.
It was great fun for the Jarvinens too!! Thanks for coming and we have to do it again!!!! 🙂
There were no fights??? These kids are
too nice.
It was definitely a lot of fun (especially for our boys).
Again – something I’m missing out!!! Next time I’m going to have to plan something midway so we can all go together just like old times. But of course with the kids.
Great photos Rex! Very nice night shots. Do you have an external flash?
thx! I have an external flash that’s nearly 20 yrs old; one piece of my equipment that’s rather unpredictable for some reason. I don’t always get the exposure I expect sometimes. Plus flash photography is something I’m still haven’t done as much as I’d like, so I’m not as comfortable…
Did you guys hike w/ the kids? I’ve always wondered how the campsites at Mt. Madona.
There’s a big VN Buddhist temple at the top of the mountain too. It has a pretty cool view of Santa Cruz on a clear day. I think I saw to the ocean from there one time.
Doc & Betty did took the older toddlers for a quick hike.
