It all depends on the area. If it’s in a good area, that’s not too bad – invest in another $400-500K to remodel it and you will have a million dollar brand new house!! 🙂 So you guys are looking now?

I had a company’s picnic at Blackberry Farm yesterday. I decided to take the scenic route.
I was driving aimlessly then wham, there it was, this very house on Rex’s blog. It’s in an excellent/expensive neighborhood. It’s close to Monta Vista High which is one of the best public high school in California. I once saw a survey about excellent high school in America and Monta Vista was mentioned there too. I stood there for a long long time to analyze the property. Some aspects of the structure indicates somebody started the construction but then other parts look like it’s being dismantled. The lot is a bit small compare to the lot of neighboring houses. If the lot was any bigger I think they would ask for more than $650k :). My mother likes the idea of bulldozing a house and reconstructing it.
It’s a huge headache though. It’s something we might consider some years down the road.
